Well, for all of you who follow my blog, or have stopped because there has been a lack thereof, here you go. An update of our first year married in a nutshell.
THE HONEYMOON!
When Bo and I were first married, you could definitely say we were short on money. Bo had just spent all of his hard earned money on my beautiful ring and the last of his bank account on our honeymoon. We decided to go to Las Vegas for a week. I was very excited because I had never really been to Las Vegas. Bo had it all planned out and kept it a secret from me, it was cute.
Well, the morning we left my parents' house, it was snowing like CRAZY! They tried to convince us not to go that day, but Bo was persistent because we couldnt get the money back for the hotel that night. I agreed to go, so we said goodbye to my family and Britt and Stef because they were there too and headed out.
As soon as we got out of Moab the weather was bright and sunny UNTIL.... We got about half way through salina Canyon, the very top. All of a sudden there was snow ALL over the road, luckily we slowed down in time not to get in a wreck. There were a bunch of cars stopped and we wondered why but we couldnt see. We wondered how long we would be there, so we turned off the car and just listened to music for awhile.. Well about half an hour later we went the start the car and it was dead... The wind was blowing SOOOO hard outside the car and snow was blowing everywhere, but we proceeded to knock on the windows of about 5 cars that surrounded us to see if they had jumper cables, none of them did....
I was SO hungry, all we had to eat was some of our wedding cake that my mom sent with us. I was panicking about what we were gonna do when the hundreds of cars finally started moving and we were dead, stuck in the middle of the freeway. Well I said a little prayer (but having little faith, shame on me) I thought to myself, you always hear those stories where someone prays for something like this and it's answered right away, well that would never happen to us. Without saying anything to Bo, he literally turned the key less than a minute later and the car started!!!!! I was shocked, but EXTREMELY greatful.
We headed on our way and arrived in Las Vegas much after dark. We were both so exhausted we just went to bed. The next morning we went down to get breakfast and the prices were outrageous. We decided to go to Walmart and stock up, so yes, the first thing we did on our honeymoon was go to Walmart haha
While in Vegas we went to all the major hotel/casinos on the strip and walked around and took advantage of any free entertainment we could find. We went to see Siefried and Roy's Tiger exhibit (mine and Bo's favorite animal are tigers). We went to the Variety Show and then a Hypnotist. We had so much fun, even with little money. I can't wait to go back! We had many adventures that I look back fondly on.
LATER.... :)
Once the Honeymoon was over it was back to real life. We both worked at the same place, the same hours which was nice. Our first apartment was nice. It had 3 bedrooms, so plenty of space for our stuff. That semester was nice because neither of us had any classes on Fridays. Bo worked for Snow college on the grounds crew as well.
We had a very pleasant suprise when our Financial Aid finally came in. We had been reinbursed for the previous semester and after tuition was taken out we were both left with $4,000, it was a HUGE blessing. It helped us make it through. We also had quite a bit of money that we were given for our wedding that helped out a TON!
SUMMER...
At the beginning of the summer I was busy doing all my training and certifying to become a lifeguard at seven peaks. Bo was installing security systems for AMP security (Who suck by the way!) He was gone most days from between 10am-1 Until 11:30 or 12 at night, so I spent a lot of time alone and missing him. He was only at the job for about 2 weeks before they laid him off and he was out of work for almost a month. I started working at 7 peaks but only worked about 4 days a week. My brother offered Bo a job Mowing Lawns at 7 Peaks, and in desperation he accepted it. Bo had to be to work at 6:30 every morning, it was killer. We saw each other from time to time at work, so that was cool. All my friends thought he was way cute... I told them to back off.. haha
The summer was good. We worked a lot, but we also had a lot of fun. Went camping with Bo's family, Went down to Moab for Tori's 3rd birthday. Went to Lagoon with Kelly and Clint, So fun! Our apartment was kind of a bummer. We didnt get the one we wanted, and the one we did get was pretty crappy, they recently weasled us out of most of our deposit (never live at any of Continental Apartments in Provo.. )
I made a lot of friends at 7 Peaks, but by the end of the summer I was ready to be done. I was ready to move back down to Ephraim and get to see all our friends again...
Back at School.....
As usual, we had a hard time finding an apartment and ended up in an apartment that we werent extremely thrilled about. It feels like home now, but it took a little while. Both of our schedules are INSANE!! I am taking Human Anatomy.... I spend most of my time studying for that class, and the rest of my time giving some thought to my other 5 classes.
Bo is taking quite a few hard classes and working for Snow College again. Recently our car broke down. We ended up having to get a whole new engine for it, we were NOT expecting that and it hit us pretty bad financially.... We then realized just how bald the tires on our jeep are (our 4 wheel drive vehicle is not much good in the snow without good tires) So we ended up spending another $520 on that. We feel very blessed to have the money to be able to do these things. We have never really had to struggle for money, but of course we always wish we had more :)
As of now we just applied to UVU and are planning on attending there in the spring. We want to settle down up in that area, so it will be nice to get up there as soon as we can. Bo will be working with his brother doing home theater and automation. They just started a business together, im very excited about it and hope that it is very successful. We are hit again with the struggle of finding an apartment and can't wait until we have the peace of mind of knowing where we will live next.
This was just a brief update of the past year... Obviously there is a TON of stuff I left out but I will try to be better at posting more regularly.
